If we look at the numbers in 2016 Sweden had a population of 9954420
7825000+270000+25000+500000=8620000
That means even when we include the Finnish people who speak Swedish in Finland and the ½ million Americns who speak some Swedish it is still only 8 million 620 thousand people when Sweden alone has 9 million 954 thousand 420 people
Even if we include the random number of 5000 people learning Swedish outside of Scandinavia it still means over a million people in Sweden cannot speak Swedish

Did you know that Sweden is known for the fact that everyone speaks good English compared to most of Europe unless they are Arabs, under 12 or over 65 because for one thing Sweden does not dub TV programs but even so it is very common to hear Swenglish or somewhat basic English when you go to the smaller towns
Swedes DO NOT speak as good English as people outside of Sweden would believe but they can still hold a conversation pretty well
Even so Sweden has a law that you must be able to speak Swedish if you want to study or work because after all English is not one of Swedens official languages even if everyone learns it from a young age
It is a very good law that makes sure Swedish stays relevant in Sweden and can be used anywhere without being overshadowed by English
Heck even in immigrant areas where languages like Arabic are the norm the shops must have signs in Sweden and the shop owners must be able to answer you in Swedish even if broken Swedish or you have the right to complain to the Swedish state
